Performance and Insights Lead at Education Review Office, Wellington

Starting salary: $125,000 - $145,000 negotiable + superannuation

Mō tēnei tūranga | About this role

This role is permanent, based in Wellington. Reporting to the Director System Implementation and Performance you will lead how ERO understands, measures and explains its performance and impact across the education system. You'll shape the strategy, planning, monitoring and reporting artefacts that underpin ERO's accountability to New Zealanders and build strong relationships within ERO and key external stakeholders.

You'll work closely with specialist colleagues across the Performance and Implementation Group to strengthen how we tell our performance story and demonstrate the impact of ERO's work on education outcomes. 

We're looking for someone with deep operational understanding of review and regulatory practice, who can translate complex evidence into clear, decision ready advice for senior leaders and Ministers.

We want to hear about any of the following in your cover letter and CV:

  • Your experience working credibly in review, evaluation, assurance or regulatory environments and how with this has shaped advice you provide
  • Example of developing clear, high-quality advice or reporting for senior leaders, ELT, Ministers, or Board
  • How you translate data and evidence into practical, decision ready insights that make a difference
  • Your ability to build trusted relationships and balance professional judgement, progressing toward strategic goals, and real-world delivery
  • Understanding of the machinery of government and related processes and procedures
