Kaitohutohu Matua Māori

A fixed term role for 6-months.

About the Role

You will continue ground-breaking work to identify and describe kaupapa Māori occupations. You will gather and document insights about these occupations by facilitating wananga with Māori, and present your findings for use on the new website. You will also advise on the tikanga of the website and its content, including videos, photography, illustrations and overall design.

Your key accountabilities include:

  • Relationship management: Develop high-trust and productive relationships with appropriate Māori stakeholders.
  • Content development: Lead work on kaupapa Māori occupations. Follow an established research process, including facilitating hui and administering surveys, and collaborate with TEC experts to write up the occupations according to style.
  • Cultural leadership: Advocate for Māori aspirations and world view to ensure they are reflected in the new website. Support the project team to embed te ao Māori in our mahi.

What we are looking for:

  • Ability to engage in and demonstrate tikanga Māori
  • Fluency in te reo Māori
  • Ability to appropriately incorporate tikanga and te reo Māori into thinking, planning, and business practices
  • Strong communication and facilitation skills
  • Experience building and maintaining productive stakeholder relationships with Māori
  • A track record of bringing projects to completion
  • A drive to improve outcomes for Māori
  • Experience with co-design or working with communities would be an advantage.

The salary range for this position starts from $87,209 - $102,599+ depending on skills and experience.
