About the Roles and locations
Bay of Islands Hospital is located in Kawakawa and provides care to the people of the Mid North region. The 20-bed hospital includes comprehensive medical and paediatric services with all the supporting services and also provides a substantial community health service.
The Bay of Islands is one of the premier places to live in New Zealand and is ideally situated for those who like to work, rest and play – beautiful beaches and stunning scenery with great communities based in the Mid North area of Northland.
Kaitaia Hospital is a small rural hospital serving a widely scattered population of approximately 24,000. The 28-bed hospital has a mixed general, paediatric and maternity ward with all the supporting services. The range of medical care managed at Kaitaia Hospital is complex and interesting, providing care for the growing population as well as the huge influx of tourists in the summer period.
Kaitaia is the northern-most town in New Zealand, before you get to the iconic Cape Reinga. The small town is rich in culture and heritage and boasts some of the most scenic and exciting coastal areas of New Zealand. We have created a warm; comfortable and manageable environment and would love to hear from those interested in sharing this with us.
Dargaville Hospital is a 12-bed rural hospital with an Acute Assessment Unit, Outpatient clinics and many community-based services. The cases managed at Dargaville Hospital are complex and interesting.
Dargaville is a Northland river town, that is built along the edge of the wide Northern Wairoa River, this town is proud of its heritage and comes with an interesting history. It is a great jumping off point from which to explore the unspoiled recreational paradise of the Kauri Coast. Nearby also lies the Kai Iwi Lakes - great for a freshwater dip - and the ruggedly beautiful Baylys beach.
All three rural hospitals are largely supported by Whangarei Hospital in providing secondary care services.
Our teams are fun loving and hardworking, striving for quality health care that is second to none. We are looking for dynamic team players to provide medical care to patients presenting to Accident and Medical departments as well as outpatients and inpatients. We are looking for someone to ideally bring rural medicine experience however we are open to hearing from those with the commitment to learn and grow in this niche specialty.
