Te whiwhinga mahi | The Opportunity
As a cardiac Sonographer at New Zealand’s largest tertiary hospital you will be performing and reporting on transthoracic cardiac ultrasound examinations and assisting with transoesophageal and other echo supported procedures. You will serve both the inpatient and outpatient areas, acute needs in ED, ICU and theatre, and assist in other diagnostic areas when required. We also currently provide satellite echocardiography clinics in our outlying communities.

Key responsibilities of the role:
- Undertake a full range of echocardiographic examinations and complete technical reports
- Complete preliminary reports with Cardiology/Echo system
- Identify, demonstrate and report cardiac pathologies
- Participate in TTE and TOE lists within the department as well as mobile and bedside examinations when required
- Support other more complex procedures in the operating theatre and cardiac catheter lab when required i.e. Percutaneous valve replacement, PFO and ASD/VSD closure devices and balloon valvuloplasties
- Participate in the on call after hours service
- Perform an echo list at one of our satellite hospitals

The Cardiac ultrasound service at Waikato Hospital provides a variety of invasive and non-invasive cardiac procedures to the local population. Our department is well equipped and performs over 9,000 scans per annum, including 4D Echocardiography.

Mōu | About you
- Be registered as a sonographer with the New Zealand Medical Radiation Technologist Board (MRTB) with a current practicing certificate;
OR - Have an appropriate qualification for cardiac sonography acceptable for registration as a sonographer with the New Zealand MRTB
- Must be eligible to work in New Zealand
