Salary: $ 82,988- $ 110,825 + superannuation

The role | Te tūnga
In your role as Senior Advisor - Data Management, you will report to the Unit Manager Data and Information Management and work in close partnership with the Data and Information Management team and teams across the Strategic Data Management branch. You are accountable for providing thought leadership to the Data and Information Management Team to improve data and information management practices at Stats NZ. You will also be leading the provision of advice and services to internal and external customers and stakeholders on best practice, and overseeing a range of duties to manage data, records and other information resources.
Initially, a key focus area will be on Data Acquisition which will see you working closely with Data Brokers, Senior Business Analysts and teams across the organisation.
Key to the success of this role is the ability to:
- Partner with internal and external customers and stakeholders to provide best practice data and information management advice and support that meets their needs.
- Research complex issues and develop practical solutions to them.
- Lead work in your data management.
- Learn on the job.
- Support and coach Data and Information Management Advisors.
- Apply your knowledge of Māori tikanga to your work.
What you bring | Nōu te rourou
- Degree-level qualification or equivalent experience in a relevant discipline such as information management, data or records management
- Experience working as a Data and/or Information Management Advisor with a strong understanding of the practical components of data/information management:
- Strong understanding of metadata standards, implementation and management.
- Strong experience of managing data as an asset throughout data lifecycle with a particular emphasis on data acquisition activities.
- Good understanding of data management principals, familiarity with data models and experience implementing best practice.
- Excellent relationship building skills with an ability to translate customer needs or requirements into practical initiatives to improve services or develop new services.
- Good communication skills with the ability to share technical data management knowledge with different audiences using plain/accessible language.
- Any information about your knowledge and experience, or desire to learn and build knowledge and experience of Te Tiriti, Tikanga, Te Reo and Te Ao Māori, and engagement with Māori.
