Mō te tūnga | About the role
You will be delivering timely, high-quality HR advice and supporting people leaders across the organisation with end to end HR processes, including Site and Regional Managers. You will play a vital part in ensuring HR practices align with Oranga Tamariki policies, New Zealand employment legislation, and best practice standards.
A core focus for you is to build leadership capability in people management by equipping managers with practical tools, frameworks, and tailored guidance. Supporting leaders to confidently manage a wide range of HR matters, fostering consistent and effective people practices across the organisation.
Collaboration is essential, you will work closely with colleagues across the wider People and High-Performance group. Together, you will coordinate and deliver both advisory and HR administrative functions to support strategic and operational goals. This is a hands-on role that combines problem-solving, stakeholder engagement, and a strong customer-service approach to improve the overall employee experience at Oranga Tamariki.

Key requirements of the role include:
- Strong relevant experience in end to end HR processes
- Knowledge of current NZ employment law and HR practices
- Ability to coach, and mentor people leaders and other people advisory team members to enhance overall capability in HR practice and administration
- Strong attention to detail and adept at managing multiple pieces of work
- Understanding and appreciation of cross-cultural practices in particular; knowledge of tikanga Māori, and Pacific peoples' culture
