Maternal Mental Health Clinician/ Registered Nurse - Child, Youth and Family Mental Health Services - Te Whatu Ora Waitemata

  • Fixed term (ending on 28 August 2026)
  • Full time position (80 hours per fortnight)
  • Monday to Friday
  • Based at Waitakere Hospital

Are you a qualified, registered Mental Health Registered Nurse? The maternal mental health team is looking for you to join our specialist team clinician.

About the Role

The Maternal Mental Health Service provides a comprehensive specialist multi-disciplinary mental health service to pregnant and post-partum women who experience moderate to severe mental health-related issues during this period. Our community-based service has a well-developed continuum of care, offering a range of treatment options that include home visits, a purpose-built mother and baby respite unit, plus access to a regional mother and baby inpatient unit should the need arise.

About You

We are seeking an experienced registered nurse with a good understanding of adult mental health needs who has an interest in the complexity of the perinatal period including the mother-baby relationship. Good assessment skills and engagement skills are a key requirement. You will have excellent communication skills for consultation, networking, and liaison and will perform well under pressure.

Essential

  • Registered Nurse with current New Zealand registration and annual practising certificate:
    • With scope to work in a mental health setting and minimum Level 2 competent healthcare portfolio
  • Full NZ driver's licence
  • 2 or more years experience in Mental Health nursing
  • Contemporary clinical practice in a mental health setting
  • Understanding of mental health perinatal issues
  • Knowledge of infant development
