About the Role

Te Whatu Ora Tairawhiti  is  looking for a   1.0 FTE Psychiatrist. We are particularly interested in a person that is willing to explore many ways of working with whanau/families in distress.  Position Description | 

About the Team/Service/ Location

Te Whatu Ora Tairāwhiti Mental Health and Addiction Services, Te Ara Maioha, have several opportunities to either explore specialties or generalist Consultant Psychiatry in General Adult, Mental Health Services for Older People and Infant, Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. Days and hours can be negotiated.

Due to new funding allocated to Tairāwhiti region for development of new service models and facilities that will better provide for the needs of the local community, now is the time to be part of shaping service delivery. There is a focus in strong community engagement in addressing inequalities for Māori.

About you

Essential:

  • Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatry or equivalent
  • Registered or eligible for vocational registration in Psychiatry with the Medical Council of New Zealand

Skills and experience

  • Broad clinical experience
  • Specialist knowledge and broad clinical experience of Mental Health Services for Older People and General Adult psychiatry
  • The ability to work professionally and effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi
  • Commitment to Equity and Mana Motuhake
  • Must have Cultural Literacy
  • Must have a current New Zealand drivers license.
  • Must be courageous
  • Must have at least 3 years experience
