- If so, we invite you to join our Professional Development Unit (PDU) at Waikato Hospital as a Nurse Educator working within the perioperative service, with a particular focus on operating theatre nursing.
About the Role
In this role, you will support nurses across the Waikato District and develop collaborative partnerships within the Te Manawa Taki region, focusing on perioperative care education.
Grounded in evidence-based educational practice and clinical leadership, you will identify learning needs, design education initiatives, and evaluate outcomes to promote high-quality, safe, and culturally responsive care. You will work closely with nurse educators, clinical coaches, and other clinical leaders to plan and deliver education.
Based at Waikato Hospital, the role includes travel to rural hospitals within our districtoffering a valuable opportunity to contribute to perioperative education in diverse clinical settings.

About You
We are looking for a Registered Nurse who brings both clinical expertise and a passion for education in perioperative care and operating theatre practice. You will have:
- A strong understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and a demonstrated commitment to improving health outcomes for Māori
- At least five years post-registration experience, with relevant operating theatre clinical experience
- Proven ability to facilitate and assess learning in clinical environments
- Expert or Proficient level on the Professional Development and Recognition Programme (PDRP), with a commitment to ongoing advancement
- A relevant adult teaching qualification (e.g., preceptorship, adult education)
- Postgraduate study in a relevant field
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build effective relationships across diverse teams
- A current New Zealand drivers licence
