About the Role
We are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Clinical Physiologist (Respiratory / Sleep) to join our dynamic Physiologist-led team. In this role, the clinical physiologist will use specialised equipment, including a plethysmography booth, to perform comprehensive pulmonary function tests that measure lung volumes and airflow dynamics, assisting in the diagnosis and management of respiratory diseases.
Additionally, they will be responsible for conducting and interpreting sleep studies to assess sleep patterns, identify abnormalities, and help diagnose conditions like sleep apnea, insomnia, narcolepsy, and restless leg syndrome.
You will work closely with Respiratory Physicians and other healthcare providers to develop treatment plans, which may include recommendations for lifestyle changes, therapy (APAP,CPAP,BiPAP for sleep disorders), or medication.
The role of Clinical Physiologist (Respiratory / Sleep) is an allied health, scientific and technical professional who has formally demonstrated an ability to apply expert clinical competence to a highly advanced level of complexity. The role is crucial in improving patients' Respiratory health, quality and overall wellbeing by providing evidence-based insights into respiratory / sleep-related issues.

About the Team/Service/Location
A team of four Physiologists and two Sleep assistants work closely with a multidisciplinary team of clinicians to provide high-quality care for our patients. This service is based primarily at Tuia Te Ora (Beautifully appointed Community based Health facilities) with some travel to our rural locations (Bay of Islands, Kaitaia and Dargaville).

About you
The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of sleep physiology, strong technical skills in monitoring and data analysis, and the ability to communicate findings clearly to both patients and healthcare providers.
- Registration as a Clinical Respiratory Physiologist with the NZ Clinical Physiologists Registration Board or work towards gaining
- Minimum 2-years post qualification experience with demonstrated ability to perform all core pulmonary diagnostic tests
- Experience in screening for obstructive sleep apnoea
- Current Drivers License and a willingness to travel
- Previous experience in a sleep clinic or similar healthcare setting is preferred
