About the opportunity
You'll be taking on an important role in our specialist Grid Investment Advisory team, which supports smart decision-making for the benefit of all New Zealanders now and into the future.
The team interfaces and works with a range of other functions nationwide who collectively manage critical infrastructure assets in excess of $5.5B, bringing people and information together to make the right decisions for New Zealand’s future.
Supported by your own analysis, big picture thinking and growing expertise, you'll work with big data and information that comes from a variety of market and internally sourced outputs providing insights across areas such as:
- Current and future electricity demands
- Emerging new energy sources
- Future pricing and transmission demands
- Project benefits and risks
You'll produce convincing cases for the right investments, through high-quality economic advice and documentation which will support major investment and expenditure decision-making; as well as craft Major Capex Proposals >$30M.
With coaching and mentoring, you'll complete economic and financial analysis and investigate investment costs and the feasibility of alternatives. Your work will contribute to the provision of thought and technical leadership across a variety of investment-related investigations.
About you
You'll love working with smart people in support of critical decision making with far reaching impacts! You'll have advanced quantitative economic analysis skills or be great with numbers, understand regulatory compliance, and crucially have a well-developed ability to communicate analysis, including visually and in written report format. Importantly you’ll be driven by bringing people and solutions together to accelerate New Zealand’s electrification journey.
Your CV and cover letter will demonstrate an Honours, Masters, or PhD level qualification in a quantitative field e.g., economics, finance, engineering, mathematics, statistics or physics and you'll ideally bring proven commercial economic analysis experience.
