About the role | Mō te tūranga mahi

This is a pivotal leadership role at the centre of ACC's injury prevention system. As Manager, Prevention Insights & System Engagement, you will lead a team delivering high'quality, evidence-based insights that shape ACC's prevention strategy and influence system'wide change.

The role champions the use of data, research, and behavioural insights to identify risks, anticipate trends, and target interventions, particularly for high'risk groups. An understanding of the machinery of government ensures prevention advice is grounded in public sector realities and able to influence policy, investment settings, and broader government priorities.

It sets an ambitious work programme, strengthens cross'functional collaboration, and builds trusted relationships across ACC and the wider system. Leadership in this role embeds prevention into core policies and programmes, while supporting a culture of informed, insight'driven decision'making.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading the development of actionable, insight'driven advice for ACC's injury prevention strategy.
  • Translating complex data into meaningful insights that guide prioritisation and investment.
  • Integrating research and evidence into prevention initiatives and policy influence.
  • Overseeing compelling, data'driven business cases for prevention programmes.
  • Championing behavioural and equity'focused change initiatives.
  • Building strong partnerships across government, sector partners, and internal teams.
  • Leading and developing a collaborative, high'performing team.

About you | Mōu

You're an experienced leader who thrives in complex environments and enjoys turning insights into action. You bring strategic thinking, strong analytical capability, and a deep understanding of how public sector systems operate.

We're looking for someone with:

  • Extensive experience in prevention, public health, data analytics, or a related field.
  • Significant leadership experience managing high performing teams and being part of a leadership team driving strategic change for a function.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams through change.
  • Proven ability to translate complex data into clear, actionable insights.
  • Strong experience in business case development and evidence'based decision'making.
  • Expertise in behavioural science, economic modelling, or cost'effectiveness analysis.
  • Experience leading high-performing, cross'functional programmes and influencing senior stakeholders and system change.
  • Strong communication skills, including experience with behaviour'change or media campaigns.
  • Demonstrated leadership in applying Te Tiriti o Waitangi in policy, systems, or service design.

    The indicative salary range for this role is $164,705 - $232,525 depending on skills and experience. ACC also offers a generous 9% employer superannuation contribution.
