Our teams in the Economic Performance division provide evidence-based policy advice to enhance New Zealand’s microeconomic settings, with the overall aim of boosting the country's economic growth. The Division works closely with other economic agencies and manages advice around key economic frameworks including climate, energy, natural resources, taxation, economic development and innovation. Our aim is to deliver robust advice on critical economic levers and address systemic challenges and growth opportunities to build a more resilient and dynamic economy.
Kōrero mō te tūranga | About the Role
We have an opportunities for Senior Analysts to work with us to lead the Treasury’s advice in our Revenue & Ecomomic Developmet team and our Climate, Energy & Resources team.
- The Revenue and Economic Development team advises on tax strategy, ecomomic development and regional policy, immigration, competition, and a range of other microeconomic policy issues.
- The Climate, Energy and Resources team brings together Treasury expertise across climate, energy policy and natinal resource management.
In these roles, you will:
- provide advice to Ministers on proposals with significant economic and fiscal impacts.
- work collaboratively across the Treasury and with agencies to develop free, frank and helpful advice.
- demonstrate and develop your relationship management and strategic policy skills.
- contribute robust analytical and solution-focused thinking.
As a Senior Analyst you will have opportunities to lead significant projects, and to lead and mentor other staff.
Ō pūmanawa | About You
We are seeking a well-rounded candidate. In addition to a tertiary qualification you will bring:
- strong analytical ability and an aptitude for critical thinking
- excellent written and verbal skills with the ability to communicate complex issues clearly
- intellectual curiosity and receptiveness to different viewpoints
- the ability to work collaboratively with others and develop solutions.
Public policy experience and familiarity with economic frameworks would be an advantage, although we are interested in candidates from a broad range of backgrounds. For Senior Analyst roles, applicants will typically have at least four and a half years of relevant experience.
