Advisor and Senior Advisor, Ministerial Services and Accountability at NZ Security Intelligence Service (NZSIS), Wellington

We are looking for an Advisor and a Senior Advisor to join us in delivering a range of ministerial and agency accountability services in support of both NZSIS and GCSB. Mō te tūranga mahi – about the role

The Ministerial Services and Accountability Team plays a key role in building the Minister’s and the public’s trust and confidence in our two agencies, and supporting the public’s access to what we do.

You will be a valued member of our team, working across GCSB and NZSIS to provide excellent ministerial services, respond to Official Information and Privacy Act requests and prepare high quality accountability documents. Day-to-day, you’ll work collaboratively within and across agencies, supporting senior leaders and our Directors-General to make informed decisions.

We’re looking for a collaborative professional who enjoys solving problems, engaging with stakeholders, and working as part of a team.

To be successful in this role, you will bring:

  • Highly-developed written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a constructive approach to stakeholder engagement
  • Ability to think critically and apply judgement

The Senior role requires experience and knowledge in certain areas, while interest and aptitude could see you develop in the Advisor role. 

  • The appointment range for the Senior Advisor role is $103,009 - $109,876
  • The appointment range for the Advisor role is $87,048 - $92,851

Before you apply

Working within our unique environment means we have to ensure you're eligible for employment.

You must:

  • Have been a New Zealand Citizen for at least 10 years

OR

Hold a current NZ Residency Class Visa and ideally have been a citizen of the UK, USA, Canada or Australia for at least 10 years

  • Be eligible to obtain a Top Secret Special (TSS) security clearance
    • Ordinarily, this means you'll have a 15 year checkable background in countries NZSIS Vetting can make meaningful and reliable checks.
