Telecommunications - Administration Support at Health New Zealand - Te Whatu Ora Lakes, Bay of Plenty

About the Role

As a Telecommunications Administrator you are the first point of contact. Professionalism, exceptional communication skills and calm approach ensure people are connected to the right support quickly and safely.

The role is to support patient care, clinical teams and families/whanau via communication of phones/call centre, paging system and RTs. As a critical service our main priority is to answer our emergency calls for Whakatane and Tauranga hospitals which involves directing the correct medical team to an emergency in a timely manner.

Strong problem-solving abilities play an integral part in the smooth running of the service to ensure good outcomes are reached.  Introductory 6 weeks training is provided with the support of a trained Senior Operator.

With Telecommunications operating 24/7 the team work on a shift rotation - morning, day, evening and night shift/s on a 4-week rotating roster.  

For this 0.6 FTE part time position, approximately 2 x nightshifts per month is a prerequisite. Shifts/roster will be discussed at interview.

Youll be joining a highly skilled, collaborative and passionate team at Telecommunications Service at Tauranga hospital. Hospital services operate 24/7 making the Telecommunications service an essential stakeholder within the health system.

About you

To be successful as a Telecommunications Administration Support person, the experience and professional requirements needed are:  

  • Minimum of 3 years previous Telecommunications/administration experience
  • Computer expertise and intermediate standards in typing, spelling and grammar. Word, Excel, Outlook a must
  • Ability to follow set processes
  • Competent decision maker with strong problem-solving abilities including efficiency while multi-tasking under pressure or during emergency situation/s
  • Flexible, adaptable to change
  • Excellent coping skills and ability to work independently when required
  • Exceptional communication skills and an exceptional level of excellent customer service
  • A good sense of humour is valued
