The role | Te tūnga
As Senior Advisor - Official Correspondence, you will lead the preparation of high-quality responses under the Official Information Act and support the delivery of timely, accurate ministerial servicing. You will draft responses to ministerial correspondence and Parliamentary Questions, and prepare briefings and reports that provide clear, well-considered advice. You'll triage and scope complex requests, manage competing priorities, and ensure responses are delivered to a high standard in a fast-paced and high-profile environment.
You'll also play an important role in strengthening the team's practice. This includes mentoring others, contributing to quality assurance processes, identifying opportunities to improve how the service operates, and proactively managing risk across official correspondence workflows.
What you bring | Nōu te rourou
- Significant experience providing high'quality analysis and advice on complex issues, ideally including experience advising Ministers or senior leaders.
- Strong written communication skills, including the ability to convey complex or sensitive issues clearly and concisely.
- Proven experience drafting and quality'assuring official correspondence, including OIA responses, Parliamentary Questions and Ombudsman enquiries.
- Excellent analytical and problem'solving skills, with the ability to exercise sound judgement in politically sensitive or ambiguous situations.
- Strong relationship management skills with ability to work with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.
- Experience mentoring or coaching others and contributing to capability uplift across a team.
- An understanding of the machinery of government and relevant legislation, along with a commitment to the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi.

The appointing range for this role $92,425 - $115,018 with the potential to appoint higher depending on level of experience
