Border Analyst at NZ Security Intelligence Service (NZSIS), Wellington

Join our diverse and talented people and work at the heart of national security, providing essential intelligence to the NZ government to protect New Zealand and its people.

We are currently recruiting Analysts to join our dedicated, driven and delivery focussed Wellington-based Border and Security Assessments team.

You will undertake national security checks by evaluating multiple information sources in order to draft security assessments for customer agencies. You will be required to manage key stakeholder relationships, while also drafting reports for external customers and responding to alerts. The nature of the work in this team can be fast-paced and require quick responses under time pressure. The outcomes from your work will have a direct impact on the security and well-being of Aotearoa. 

You will be part of a small, supportive team that will provide you with valueble skills and development opportunites to support career progression within the Intelligence commnuity. 

What we are looking for:

We are looking for people with an interest in national security and an enquiring mind who have:

  • Proven ability to assess information from multiple sources, including highly effective analytical, judgement and problem-solving skills
  • The utmost accuracy and attention to detail, especially when under pressure
  • Ability to produce concise written assessments that will meet organisational standards and style
  • Flexibility to respond to changing and competing priorities and ability to work under pressure to meet tight deadlines
  • The ability to work collaboratively, contribute to team-based outcomes and identify ways to improve systems, processes ways to work
  • Excellent interpersonal and relationship management skills

Before you apply

Working within our unique environment means we have to ensure you're eligible for employment.

You must:

  • Have been a New Zealand Citizen for at least 10 years

OR

Hold a current NZ Residency Class Visa and ideally have been a citizen of the UK, USA, Canada or Australia for at least 10 years

  • Be eligible to obtain a Top Secret Special (TSS) security clearance
    • Ordinarily, this means you'll have a 15 year checkable background in countries NZSIS Vetting can make meaningful and reliable checks.
