Consultant Psychiatrist - Acute Care team at Health New Zealand - Te Whatu Ora Lakes, Bay of Plenty

About the Role

We currently have a permanent, full-time position available in our Tauranga Community Acute Care Team. 

The appointee will provide specialist psychiatric input within Adult Mental Health and Addictions, working as part of our Acute Care Team (ACT). ACT includes intake, crisis intervention, and the Home-Based Treatment Team (HBTT).

In this role, the psychiatrist will work in close partnership with the ACT Team Leader to provide clinical leadership, education, and support to the multidisciplinary team. They will collaborate closely with the HBTT psychiatrist; however, the appointee will not be responsible for HBTT.

This position is part of a large, well-established multidisciplinary team comprising nurses, social workers, occupational therapists, and psychologists within the Community Mental Health and Addiction Service, based at Tauranga Hospital.

About You

Criteria for this position:

  • You need to be a Vocationally Registered Psychiatrist with the Medical Council of NZ or be eligible for this.
  • Have fellowship with the RANZCP or the equivalent is essential.
