About the role | Mō te tūranga mahi

The Senior Advisor, Operational Controls plays a key role in first line of defence activities through the delivery, uplift, and continuous improvement of ACC's operational risk and control environment. The role provides senior-level advice, guidance, and practical expertise to business units to identify, assess, and manage operational risks and controls, ensuring they are effectively designed, documented, monitored, and embedded in day-to-day operations.

Working closely with Business Owners, the role leads and enables process and control documentation, change impact assessments, and the application of operational risk and control methodologies to enable consistent, effective risk management practices across the organisation.

About you | Mōu

You will bring:

  • Strong working knowledge of operational risk management and control design principles.
  • Experience interpreting, modelling, and documenting business processes using recognised process modelling tools and techniques.
  • Proven ability to work to agreed standards, methodologies, and frameworks (e.g. risk, compliance, project, or process methodologies).
  • Proven conceptual, analytical, and data analysis capability, with the ability to work through complex, ambiguous, and emerging issues.
  • Demonstrated capability in business improvement planning, analysis, design, implementation, and post-implementation review, resulting in improved outcomes.
  • Proven ability to apply sound judgement and respond appropriately based on engagement context and risk.
  • Demonstrated self-management skills, including the ability to prioritise work, manage time effectively, solve problems, work under pressure, and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively at all organisational levels and translate complex information into plain English.
  • Strong interpersonal, facilitation, and conflict resolution skills, including the ability to influence outcomes without direct authority.
  • Experience working in large, complex organisational environments.
  • Knowledge of, or the ability to rapidly develop an understanding of, ACC's business, structure, customers, legislative environment, and core business processes.

The appointing salary for this role starts at $102,000- $119,000 we offer an additional 9% superannuation contribution. ACC offers a comprehensive benefits package which at present includes an advantageous superannuation scheme with features like 0% contribution required by you, optional life and income protection insurance, and the flexibility to change to a locked plan at any time, ensuring your financial security now and in retirement.
