Manager - Infrastructure, Security and Government at The Treasury, Wellington

The Treasury is on the hunt for an exceptional Manager to head our Infrastructure, Security, and Government team within the Public Sector Performance Division.

Kōrero mō te tūranga | About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced professional to join our Infrastructure, Security and Government team as the Manager - Infrastructure, Security and Government. 

You will have responsibility for leading the Treasury’s advice on performance, funding and policy issues across New Zealand's public infrastructure and security portfolios, including but not limited to transport, housing, defence and the justice sector.

This is a fast-paced role and with the support of a Unit Manager you will lead a large, talented team to deliver success.

This important work takes a special kind of person with a passion for making a difference and getting things done. We welcome people with either private and/or public sector experience, who can demonstrate the following key attributes required to succeed in this role:

  • Proven leadership experience, with the ability to oversee complex portfolios, support team development and drive change.
  • Exceptional relationship management skills, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  •  Proven ability to effectively manage both operational and strategic challenges—combining decisive action to address immediate issues with a strategic and systemic approach to identifying opportunities for improved performance across the entire portfolio.
  • Curious and driven to understand what leads to better performance, with a willingness to embrace new approaches, including the use of data and digital tools, to maximise efficiency
  • A passion for delivering better outcomes for New Zealanders through effective public sector management.
