Ko tōu ake mahi - What you'll do
We are seeking Medical Advisors to play a key role in protecting the health of New Zealanders by providing expert clinical advice on the safety and efficacy of medicines. This could be at Medical Advisor or Senior Medical Advisor level, dependant on your experience.
Working within Medsafe's Clinical Risk Management branch, you'll assess clinical evidence across the medicine lifecycle, support regulatory decision'making, and contribute to post'market medicine safety monitoring. You'll collaborate with internal teams, expert committees, and external stakeholders to ensure high'quality, evidence'based decisions that support public health, equity, and Te Tiriti o Waitangi obligations.
- Assess and interpret clinical evidence to support decisions on the approval and ongoing safety of medicines
- Present clinical advice and evidence to expert advisory committees and Medsafe colleagues
- Contribute to regulatory communications, and improvement projects
- Work closely with pharmaceutical companies, clinicians, and health sector partners
- Deliver high'quality, timely work while maintaining accurate records and clear communication
Ko ngā pūkenga ōu - What you'll bring
- A medical qualification with NZ Medical Council registration and a current Annual Practising Certificate (or the ability to gain this)
- Strong clinical judgement with experience analysing evidence and providing clear, well'reasoned advice
- Excellent organisation skills, able to manage competing priorities while maintaining accuracy and confidentiality
- Confident communicator, able to translate complex clinical information for a wide range of audiences
- Proven ability to build effective relationships and work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders
