Clinical Team Leader, Child Development Service at Health New Zealand - Te Whatu Ora Tairāwhiti, Gisborne

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced and inspiring clinician to step into the role of Team Leader Child Development Service based at Gisborne Hospital (Community focus).

In this position, you will provide leadership, coordination, and clinical oversight of a transdisciplinary team delivering services to tamariki (children), rangatahi (young people), and their whānau across the Tairāwhiti region.

This is a key leadership role where you will:

         Lead the planning, delivery, and continuous improvement of Child Development Services

         Ensure a high-quality, equitable service is provided across home, community, and clinical settings

         Support and mentor staff, ensuring effective workforce planning and development

         Build strong relationships with community partners, health providers, and stakeholders

         Drive service innovation, change, quality improvement, and achievement of contractual and clinical outcomes

You will play a vital role in leading a whānau-centred, community-based service, working closely with families to deliver coordinated care and improve health equity.

About you

You will be a confident and capable leader with strong clinical credibility and a passion for working with children and young people.

You will bring:

         New Zealand Registration as an Occupational Therapist or Physiotherapist with a current NZ Annual Practising Certificate

         Minimum 3-5 years post-graduate clinical experience, including paediatric experience

         Proven leadership and team management experience

         Experience working with children and young people with complex needs

         Strong relationship management skills across health, education, and community sectors

         A thorough working knowledge and commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi and improving equity for Māori

         Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organisational skills

         You will also demonstrate the ability to lead change, support staff development, and deliver high-quality, culturally responsive care in complex environments.
