About the Role

We are seeking an organised, motivated, and detail-oriented Pharmacy Assistant to join our Nelson Hospital Pharmacy team. In this role, you will support the delivery of safe, efficient, and high-quality medication services across the hospital.

 As a Pharmacy Assistant, you will be a key member of our team, supporting the safe supply of medications for inpatient and outpatient services. You will work closely with pharmacists and technicians supporting dispensary operations, and medication distribution across the hospital.

Key Responsibilities

• Support, the safe distribution of medications from pharmacy the hospital
• Assist with medicines management across the hospital, including ward stock
• Maintain accurate medication supply records
• Manage stock levels, including ordering, storage, and rotation of medicines
• Deliver medications to clinical areas and liaise with nursing staff
• Support compliance with hospital and regulatory standards
• Provide general operational support to the pharmacy team and assist pharmacists and technicians in day-to-day tasks

 Working Monday to Friday, with flexible hours available to suit the successful candidate. Standard 8-hour shifts may be worked between 7:30am'4:00pm or 8:00am'4:30pm.

 About the Team/Service/ Location

The Nelson Hospital Pharmacy Team is a dedicated group of pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, assistants, and interns who provide safe and effective medication management across hospital wards, outpatient services, and community healthcare. The service is continuously growing and evolving to meet the needs of our community.

The team functions in a multidisciplinary setting, working closely with medical, nursing, and allied health teams to ensure optimal medication use and patient outcomes. Together, you'll be part of a service experiencing growth and embracing professional development, making Nelson an exciting place to advance your hospital pharmacy career.

About you

You will be someone who:

• Is organised, reliable, and enjoys working with accuracy and attention to detail
• Communicates effectively and works well as part of a team
• Has good computer and administrative skills
• Can manage multiple tasks while maintaining high standards
• Brings a positive attitude and a willingness to learn
• Ideally has previous experience in a pharmacy, healthcare, or stock-management environment (not essential'training provided)
• Physical fitness and the ability to perform duties involving manual handling.
