Team Leader or Charge Nurse Manager - Rural North Mental Health and Addictions Service at Health New Zealand - Te Whatu Ora Waikato, Waikato

  • Permanent 80 hours per fortnight

About the Role

We have an exciting opportunity for a talented person to provide management and leadership to the Rural North (Hauraki) Mental Health and Addictions Service.  This position is substantially based in Thames with the opportunity to travel to Paeroa, Whitianga and Coromandel to support team members based in those locations.

You will lead a multi-disciplinary team (clinical and non-clinical roles) that provides adult mental health, community alcohol and drugs, and child & adolescent mental health services. Your leadership will foster a culture of mutual respect, safe practice and acknowledge contributions from both cultural and clinical perspectives.

The role requires creativity, reliability and exceptional organisational skills as well as the ability to embrace and lead change.

Key responsibilities of the role:

  • Lead and manage people, systems, processes and resources.
  • Build a high performing team that upholds the culture, values, mission and vision of the service.
  • Engage and work collaboratively with all stakeholders, particularly tāngata whaiora and whānau.
  • Engage and work collaboratively with Waikato District Mental Health and Addictions Services including Specialty services and inpatient MH services.
  • Strengthen our relationships and collaboration with Te Korowai o Hauraki and Thames Hospital-based services.
  • Foster a culture of openness and quality improvement, with tāngata whaiora and whānau at the centre.
  • Encourage and lead innovation and continuous improvement as part of the way we work.

Mental Health and Addictions Services at Waikato delivers a full range of specialty services across the district. About you

Skills and experience youll need to be considered for the role:

  • A relevant graduate and post-graduate qualification and registration with relevant professional body.
  • Experience in implementing Te Tiriti o Waitangi in action.
  • Knowledge of Te Ao Māori and a willingness to learn more is essential.
  • Have a passion for making a difference to the lives of our tāngata whaiora and whanau.
  • Experience with community networking and managing inter-sectoral relationships/partnerships.
  • Experience leading teams in the health sector.
  • Display initiative and resourcefulness that will allow you to navigate the variety of challenges you could face.
