About the Role
An exciting opportunity exists for two motivated and enthusiastic Nurse Practitioners to join our North Community mental health team for a 3-year period. Developed as a response to ongoing SMO workforce shortages, these Nurse Practitioner roles will provide advance nursing assessment and treatment interventions for a defined caseload of whaiora. These roles will also contribute to the clinical leadership within the MDT alongside Psychiatrists and Psychologists. An essential requirement will be to hold Responsible Clinician status under the Mental Health Act as well as contribute to the first on call roster afterhours to support the functions of the Assessment & Brief Care Team when complex assessments are required.

About the Team/Service/ Location
Servicing the community of north Taranaki the North Community MH Team is one of our larger community teams comprised of 22.5 FTE with a total caseload of approximately 400 clients. The multidisciplinary team includes Psychiatrists, Psychologists, Social Workers, Occupational Therapists, Nurses and a Kaiawhina/Support Worker. The team operates a keyworker model with individual caseloads made up of a mix of whaiora suitable for generic keyworking or those needing discipline specific interventions.
Managing the intake functions and needs assessment/service coordination are a small team of Pou Tohu kaimahi. Their role is to triage referrals, liaise with referrers and whaiora referred to the service and ensure the triage hub has sufficient information on which to make a decision. The Nurse Practitioner roles will support the intake functions of the service ensuring timely access to first specialist appointments and support an integrated approach with Primary referrers.

About you
New Zealand Nursing Council registration as a Nurse Practitioner with prescribing endorsement and current practising certificate;
A minimum of 5 years experience in the area of practice;
Ability to work under pressure, be a good team player, demonstrate leadership skills and positively contribute to service delivery;
Adept at developing strong working relationships both within specialist Mental Health & Addiction Services as well as NGO and primary stakeholders;
Excellent interpersonal skills is a must as well as a commitment to continuous learning, is innovative and whaiora/whanau focused.
