Senior Medical Officer / General Surgeon - Colorectal at Health New Zealand - Te Whatu Ora Counties Manukau, Auckland

Health New Zealand, TeWhatu Ora - Counties Manukau is about providing excellent care and achieving health equity for our community. We are a major tertiary teaching hospital affiliated to the University of Auckland School of Medicine serving a population of 500,000 in South and East Auckland.

We are seeking a full time Colorectal and General Surgeon to join our department. The successful applicant will perform elective and acute Colorectal and General Surgery as well as elective colonoscopy.

The Department of General Surgery consists of 23 specialist surgeons five of whom are CSSANZ colorectal surgeons. There are excellent collegial relationships within the speciality and between other surgical and medical services. The colorectal division values clinical teaching and participation in research. 

Suitable applicants must have completed FRACS in General Surgery, have completed Post-Fellowship training in Colorectal Surgery through CSSANZ by February 2027, and have colonoscopy accreditation with either the NZ Conjoint Committee or an overseas equivalent.  A higher degree or significant research experience is preferred.

  • Eligible to register or registered in a Vocational scope with the Medical Council of New Zealand (eligibility for registration can be checked via this link https://www.mcnz.org.nz/get-registered/registration-self-assessment-tool/ )
  • Current Annual Practising Certificate with the NZMC
