Kaitohu Matua | Senior Advisor, Office of the Deputy Secretary, Regions at Te Puni Kōkiri - Ministry of Māori Development, Wellington

Our Office of the Deputy Secretary, Regions is looking for a Kaitohu Matua | Senior Advisor. This role reports to the Business Manager, Regions and is a full time, fixed term opportunity until September 2027.

Te whai wāhitanga | The opportunity 

In this role, you will support the Office of the Deputy Secretary by providing high‑quality advice, coordination, and assurance across a broad range of responsibilities. The role has a strong focus on regional intelligence, accountability and performance reporting, and Ministerial and official correspondence, ensuring that regional perspectives are accurately and consistently reflected at a national level.

You’ll act as a key liaison between National Office and regional teams, helping to coordinate business planning and reporting and strengthening connections with Policy and Strategy to ensure regional insights and strategic data flow effectively across Te Puni Kōkiri.

As a relationship leader, you will build and maintain strong networks across Te Puni Kōkiri and with external partners. You will also mentor Advisors and support junior staff, contributing leadership to projects and working collaboratively and flexibly as priorities shift.

The likely appointment range is $105,100 - $116,777 based on skills and experience. This will be pro-rated for the period of the fixed term.
