Help deliver the 2026 General Election
Be part of one of New Zealand’s most important events.
Whether you enjoy working with people, keeping things organised behind the scenes, or supporting your local community, we have a range of casual roles available to help deliver the 2026 General Election.
We are recruiting for a variety of roles across Aotearoa New Zealand, with opportunities that may last for a single day, several days, or multiple weeks depending on the position.
Pay rates vary depending on the role and level of responsibility, ranging from $28.95 per hour to $36 per hour, plus 8% holiday pay.
You can apply to work in a voting place, an electorate headquarters, or both.
Electorate headquarters roles
Work as part of a team supporting the coordination and delivery of election operations. These roles start as early as July.
Electorate headquarters roles may include:
- Administration and operational support
- Logistics and planning
- Data entry and processing
- Team coordination and leadership
- Supporting election-day and post-election activities
Each electorate has a headquarters – but please note that the headquarters location for your electorate may not be close to where you live.
Voting place roles
Work in a voting place support helping people to cast their vote. These roles start in late October and work the two-week advance voting period.
Roles may include:
- Greeting and assisting voters
- Issuing voting papers
- Supporting voters to complete the voting process
- Providing customer service and guidance
- Supporting or supervising voting place teams
Voting places are located throughout New Zealand, helping communities access voting close to where they live.

We are looking for people with a range of skills and experience across both voting places and electorate headquarters.
You may be a great fit if you have:
- Enthusiasm for supporting democracy and your local community.
- Strong attention to detail.
- The ability to follow instructions and learn quickly.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- Experience working with people from diverse backgrounds.
- Good planning and organisational skills.
- Confidence using technology.
- The ability to remain calm and professional in busy environments.
- Experience using Microsoft Office (required for some roles).
