About the role
The Prevocational Educational Supervisor (PES) Recruitment and Allocation role works across the organisation supported by the RMO Unit, the Chief Medical Officer (CMO), and the Director of Training.
The priority of this role is to provide clinical leadership and oversight of recruitment, allocation and workforce planning for House Surgeons. The role ensures House Officer allocations meet service delivery needs, training requirements, and compliance obligations while promoting intern wellbeing.
Prevocational Educational Supervisors are nominated by the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) and appointed as agent of the Medical Council
Once appointed you will:
- Complete an online claim form for your interns each quarter
- Attend an annual meeting of prevocational supervisors
- Notify
Council when one of your interns receives an unsatisfactory clinical attachment
assessment.

About our team
The RMO Unit facilitates linkages between and provides support for all those involved in RMO management functions within CCHV and across the sub regional districts to ensure consistency of management practices, provision of employment agreement compliance, and administration of employment issues relating to RMOs. It also undertakes sourcing and selection of RMO's for the sub regional districts.
You will join a team of other Prevocational Education Supervisors (PES).
About you
- Vocationally registered with the Medical Council of New Zealand (MCNZ)
- Eligible to hold, and maintain, a current Certificate of Good Standing with MCNZ
- The PES should be an SMO who is familiar with the day-to-day work of Interns who are deployed in wards and services throughout CCHV
- Have knowledge of the basic skills expected of Interns, and an understanding of the MCNZ Prevocational Curriculum and training expectations
- Must be approachable and interested in recruitment, allocation and workforce planning, having an ability to work with supervising specialists
- A good role model with credibility within the profession
- Perceived by peers to be clinically competent
- Good interpersonal skills
- Capacity and willingness to work with others
