Contact Centre Operator at Health New Zealand - Te Whatu Ora Waitaha Canterbury, Christchurch

  • Part time permanent position working 16 hours per week (2 days a week 8am to 4.30pm)

About the role

We are looking for a Call Centre Operator to join the Community Dental Service, working during the week and currently based on The Princess Margaret Hospital Campus; with an intention to move to the Burwood Hospital campus in 2026.

As a team player you will be working in a busy call centre, with a small team managing inbound and outbound calls and e-contact, ensuring the children in our community have timely access to dental services by ensuring they are enrolled with the service and booking their required dental appointments.

As part of the Administration and Clerical Pay Equity Claim settlement this role has been mapped to National Band 2/Profile 2A.

In this role, you will be responsible for:

  • Manage inbound and outbound calls and enquires
  • Providing courteous and efficient service, both over the phone and via email
  • Provide information to whanau and caregivers
  • Booking appointments
  • Utilising and maintaining our database eg enrolling new children, updating contact details
  • Resolve conflicts or difficult enquires

About you

Skills and experience

Your skills will include:

  • Experience working in a call centre environment
  • Ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines
  • Active listening skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills - able to relate to whānau/caregivers and Health NZ - Te Whatu Ora Waitaha Canterbury and South Canterbury staff
  • Attention to detail and a good administrator
  • Strong time management and problem-solving skills
  • Able to pick up and use new systems and technology
  • Microsoft Suite Skills (Word, Outlook, Excel)

Integral to your success will be your continual drive for delivering customer service excellence through your exceptional telephone manner. You will have previous contact centre experience; however full training will be provided to the successful candidate.
