As a Registered Nurse in the Emergency Department, you will provide safe, expert, patient-centred care to people presenting with a wide range of acute and complex conditions. You will work closely with doctors, nurses, allied health staff, and support services in a fast-paced environment where teamwork makes all the difference.

Our department manages everything from major trauma and critically unwell patients to acute medical presentations and urgent community care needs in both adult and paediatric patients, ensuring no two days are ever the same.

Whangārei Hospital's Emergency Department provides 24/7 care to a diverse population across Northland's large regional and rural catchment. The department sees a broad range of presentations and offers exposure to a wide variety of clinical experiences that help nurses rapidly develop their skills and confidence.

About you

You will have:

  • Registration with the Nursing Council of New Zealand and a current Practising Certificate
  • Recent experience in a hospital Emergency Department
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • The ability to work confidently in a fast paced environment
  • A commitment to culturally safe practice and equitable health outcomes
