Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the role

Te Herenga Waka ' Victoria University of Wellington is currently recruiting a Student Readiness Coordinator (Work-Integrated Learning) to join the newly established Akura ' Work-Integrated Learning (WIL) Hub within the Office of the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic). This is a permanent full-time position.

In this role, you'll lead initiatives that prepare and support students for internships, placements, practicums, and other work-integrated learning opportunities. Working closely with student support services, faculty WIL teams, course staff, and student representative groups, you will lead initiatives that enhance student readiness, wellbeing, and success.

Key responsibilities

  • Design and deliver student-facing workshops, resources, and readiness programmes.
  • Provide specialist guidance and support for students navigating WIL-related issues.
  • Build strong relationships with student support services, faculty staff, and student representative groups.
  • Support the development of inclusive and accessible approaches to student support.
  • Monitor student experience data and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Provide guidance and resources to staff supporting students undertaking WIL experiences.

You will be a motivated, student-focused professional with experience supporting diverse learners and creating positive educational experiences. You will bring excellent relationship-building, communication, and problem-solving skills and be committed to inclusive practice and student success.

Key requirements

  • A relevant tertiary qualification and experience in student support, employability, education, or a related field.
  • Experience supporting diverse learners in complex learning environments.
  • Proven ability to build effective relationships with students, staff, and stakeholders.
  • Experience designing and delivering workshops, training, or student-facing resources.
  • Strong understanding of equity, accessibility, and inclusive practice.
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and conflict-resolution skills.
  • Understanding of and commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi.
  • Ability to analyse student experience data and identify trends and opportunities for improvement.
