• Permanent - Full time 80 hours per fortnight

About the Role

There are two outstanding opportunities for Clinical Psychologists to work in the context of multidisciplinary inpatient teams committed to providing excellent evidence-based biopsychosocial treatment to people with a mental health history.

The position involves working with taangata whaiora via a variety of psychological assessments, psychological therapies and other interventions.

Continuing professional development is encouraged and supported via annual training allowances.

Responsibilities of the role:

• Provide comprehensive psychological assessments including psychometric evaluations, risk assessments and therapeutic interventions.
• Develop collaborative holistic treatment plans and provide individual and group therapy in collaboration with other disciplines.
• Develop well informed psychological formulations based on comprehensive assessments.
• Provide clinical supervision (dependent on level of experience), consultation and advice to the multidisciplinary team.
• Engage and work collaboratively with all stakeholders, particularly taangata whaiora and whaanau.
• Supports the pursuit of Maaori health gains as well as achieving equitable health outcomes for Maaori.

The salary for this position will be based on experience and in line with the APEX Psychologists collective agreement or the PSA Allied, Public Health, Scientific and Technical collective agreement. About the Team/Service

Our new facility consists of two large units, each with their own high dependency areas.

Whilst this investment introduces a contemporary purpose-built facility, its true significance lies in the opportunity to redefine how care is experienced by taangata whaiora, their whaanau and loved ones.

Both units have their own multidisciplinary team which include nurses, mental health assistants, doctors, psychologists, occupational therapists, occupational therapy assistants, Takawaenga, alcohol and other drugs clinicians and activities facilitators.

About you

• Be registered with the New Zealand Psychologists Board.
• Have knowledge of and experience working with complex taangata whaiora in mental health settings.
• Support the pursuit of Maaori health gains as well as achieving equitable health outcomes for Maaori.
• Support Maaori oversight and ownership of decision-making processes necessary to achieve Maaori health equity.
• Support the expression of hauora Maaori models of care and Maatauranga Maaori.
