An exciting opportunity has become available for an experienced and highly motivated Advanced Physiotherapy Clinician to join our established Multidisciplinary Pain Service at Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora Waitematā.

This 0.9 FTE position offers the opportunity to work within a collaborative and innovative team dedicated to supporting patients with persistent pain to improve their function, participation, and quality of life through evidence-based rehabilitation approaches.

Our Pain Service brings together a range of health professionals who work in partnership with patients to develop self-management strategies, enhance resilience, and support sustainable lifestyle and behavioural change. As an Advanced Physiotherapy Clinician, you will play a key role in the assessment, management, and rehabilitation of patients presenting with complex and persistent pain conditions.

About the Role

This is a rewarding and varied role where you will:

  • Provide advanced assessment and physiotherapy management for patients with persistent pain conditions.
  • Deliver evidence-based rehabilitation interventions that support improved function and quality of life.
  • Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team that includes medical specialists, psychologists, nurses, and other allied health professionals.
  • Facilitate both individual and group-based rehabilitation programmes.
  • Contribute to service development, quality improvement initiatives, and interdisciplinary education.
  • Provide clinical leadership and support to physiotherapy colleagues and the wider multidisciplinary team.

About You

We are seeking an experienced physiotherapist who is passionate about person-centred care and empowering patients to achieve their rehabilitation goals.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Registration with the Physiotherapy Board of New Zealand and a current Annual Practising Certificate.
  • Significant post-graduate clinical experience, including experience managing patients with persistent or complex pain conditions.
  • Demonstrated ability to work autonomously while contributing effectively within a multidisciplinary team environment.
  • Strong communication, clinical reasoning, and interpersonal skills.
  • A commitment to evidence-based practice, continuous learning, and service improvement.
  • Post-graduate qualifications relevant to pain management, rehabilitation, or advanced clinical practice would be advantageous.
