About the Role

As a Clinical Nurse Specialist - Patient at Risk (PAR), you will provide expert clinical support for the early recognition and management of deteriorating patients across the hospital. Working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams, you will use advanced assessment and critical thinking skills to guide timely interventions, support clinical decision-making, and promote best practice in patient safety and care.

This is a dynamic and influential role where you will provide clinical leadership, mentor and educate staff, and contribute to service improvement initiatives that enhance patient outcomes. You will have the opportunity to work autonomously while making a significant impact across a wide range of clinical settings.

About the Team/Service/ Location

The Patient at Risk (PAR) Service provides specialist clinical support to inpatient services across Hawke's Bay. Working closely with nursing, medical, and allied health teams, the service is focused on improving the recognition and response to patient deterioration, supporting safe, high-quality care throughout the organisation.

About you

As a Clinical Nurse Specialist, you will bring:

• Current registration with the Nursing Council of New Zealand and a current Annual Practising Certificate (APC).
• Extensive acute care, critical care, or emergency nursing experience.
• Advanced clinical assessment, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
• Experience providing clinical leadership, education, and support to nursing staff.
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to work effectively across multidisciplinary teams.
