Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora Taranaki is seeking an experienced and forwardthinking Contracts and CAPEX Lead to support our Hospital & Specialist Services (H&SS). This is a key leadership role for someone who thrives at the intersection of clinical operations, business systems, and organisational performance.

As the Contracts and CAPEX Lead, you will take ownership of our contracts and capital expenditure portfolio, ensuring our clinical services are supported by robust commercial frameworks, transparent processes, and highquality operational systems. You will provide trusted business advice to senior leaders and oversee a diverse range of operational functions including procurement interfaces and capital investment processes.

You will play a central role in strengthening organisational performance through improved contract management, enhanced CAPEX planning, and the development of business cases that support sustainable investment in our services. Your leadership will help ensure our systems are efficient, futurefocused, and aligned with Health NZ priorities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead contract management across H&SS, ensuring agreements are wellstructured, monitored, and deliver value
  • Oversee CAPEX processes, including planning, prioritisation, governance, and reporting
  • Provide highquality business and operational advice to clinical and service leaders
  • Strengthen business systems, processes, and reporting to support operational excellence
  • Drive performance insights and support investment planning and service development
  • Oversee key operational portfolios including procurement interfaces.
  • Build strong, collaborative relationships across H&SS and act as a central connector between clinical, operational, finance, and planning teams
  • Champion continuous improvement and support the development of efficient, sustainable service models

About You

You will bring:

  • Strong business management or operational leadership experience
  • Proven ability to work effectively in complex, multidisciplinary environments
  • Experience in contract management, commercial oversight, or capital planning (advantageous)
  • Excellent analytical, planning, and communication skills
  • A collaborative approach with the ability to influence across teams
  • Experience in health, public sector, or similarly complex service environments
