The Opportunity
General Medicine – MED Specialty Ward - Registered Nurse
Permanent Positions, Various FTE available, which involve rotational night shifts, weekends, and coverage during public holidays.
We are looking for enthusiastic and committed Registered Nurses who already have acute setting experience to join our General Medical Ward. In this role you will be responsible for the day to day provision of nursing care in the MED Speciality Ward supporting our commitment to the highest levels of clinical practice and quality, providing our patients with the best standards of care. Nurses who thrive in our environment typically have strong critical thinking skills, an ability to remain calm and focused in high pressure situation, strong communication and interpersonal skills that align with our values around culture and equity.
This role is central to patients receiving in patient medical care and supportive treatment and works closely with our other medical inpatient wards to ensure coordinated patient flow across the service.
You will have opportunities to develop skills in the specialised area of general medicine and work towards senior clinical and leadership positions such as nurse specialists. Furthermore, you will have the opportunity to work in a part of the hospital that is committed to improving Maori health outcomes and have opportunities to be part of our Kaimahi Māori team to broaden your knowledge of Māori health, tikanga and te reo. You will also be a part of a supportive team with a good sense of humour.
The successful candidate will ideally have:
- An acute setting nursing background
- 1 year post graduate nursing experience in an acute care hospital
- Advanced patient assessment skills
- Have or working towards Level 2, 3 or 4 PDRP
- Excellent communication skills & computer knowledge
- Self motivation to learn is important if you are interested in applying for this position
