Department of Corrections
Ongoing - Full Time
Senior Adviser Community Engagement and Reintegration - Final ..docx (Word, 73KB)
The Department of Corrections has created nine new positions across our four regions to focus on proactive engagement with communities and the provision of specialist advice, ongoing education, operational support and monitoring for the placement of sex offenders and other high risk offenders in the community. The roles will also be responsible for developing and maintaining relationships with accommodation providers and agencies, to ensure appropriate accommodation and support options are available across communities.
These roles are at the forefront of creating positive partnerships and are integral to the interface between the Department and a vast array of organisations and community groups across New Zealand.
Relationship management is a large component of the role; therefore you will be apt at proactively developing strong and credible connections with diverse groups, encompassing NGOs, Government agencies, Iwi, school communities, City Councils, community leaders, and others with vested interest.
Your success will be measured by your ability to take this pivotal role and leverage off strong partnerships to facilitate positive outcomes for the Department and its stakeholders. To this end you will be comfortable facilitating and presenting across a variety of forums and be resilient in nature to manage the sensitivities of the topic.
Ideally you will present with a good understanding of risk management and knowledge in relation to high risk offenders, along with relevant legislation. However, this is not essential as transferrable skills are incredibly important combined with an affiliation for the positive and essential work Corrections undertakes.
Ideally you will be based in Hamilton, however we are flexible across the region. The remuneration range for these roles commences at $82,447 through to $123,715.
Please note: Interviews will be conducted for this role from 8th December. We suggest you begin to prepare accordingly as you will be notified on 6th December if you are shortlisted for interview.
