Housing New Zealand's vision is to be the social housing provider of choice. Our Asset Development Group is responsible for delivering Housing New Zealand's Asset Management Strategy and aims to be recognized and respected as a key player in the residential development community. 

Our Asset Development group plays a key role in delivering a major part of the strategic direction through the implementation of the Asset Management Strategy. We are looking for a highly-committed and entrepreneurial Senior Programme Manager to lead our Refurbishments team and play a key role providing management of the delivery of our refurbishments and upgrades' work programme through a multitude of contracts (both large scale/multiple year and small scale targeted contracts).

Reporting to the Manager, Programme Delivery you will be working with a variety of development partners, contractors and consultants delivering the upgrade work programmes. With strong influencing skills and the ability to work to tight deadlines under pressure, you will ensure that all agreed contractual deliverables are achieved.

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • a proven track record of managing large and/or complex programmes of work including overseeing multiple construction projects
  • team leadership skills and experience including management of project and programme professional
  • the ability to bring programmes and projects in on time, within budget and to standard
  • the ability to build and manage credible relationships with all stakeholders across multiple work programmes to achieve excellent service delivery.

Ideally you will have:

  • a relevant tertiary qualification or equivalent experience, in construction or construction project management
  • project Management qualification, either PMI or preferably Prince
  • sound experience managing construction projects with the ability to prepare comprehensive and robust project plans which identify project risks and mitigation strategy
  • experience with the delivery of high volume of construction and demolition work activities
  • demonstrated experience working in the property or construction industry
  • excellent written and oral communication skills, particularly the ability to communicate clearly, concisely and in plan language
  • strong negotiation and conflict resolution skill
  • experience in managing property maintenance or minor capital upgrade
  • excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to foster good stakeholder relationships through consultation and partnership
  • demonstrated experience in contract management & negotiation
  • computer literate in MS suite of products, particularly Word, Excel, Visio and MS Project.
