We are seeking applications for the permanent role of Senior Spatial Intelligence Analyst, as part of the Data and Spatial Intelligence unit based at NHQ, Wellington.

This is an exciting role within the NZ Fire Service providing effective spatial intelligence services and technical leadership, systems administration and technology solutions delivery supporting frontline operations, and the Senior Spatial Intelligence Analyst is a key member of the DSI team. The role focusses on:

  • Providing spatial intelligence services to NZFS through the effective management and enhancement of national enterprise level geographic information systems, integrated spatial applications and databases
  • Providing analytical, modelling, intelligence and spatial data services to National Headquarters, NZFS Operations and external customers as required, including national risk and resource modelling services and support
  • Developing and delivering integrated enterprise level spatial applications, data models and system enhancements to meet changing and widening NZFS business requirements, enabling integration with other key NZFS information systems, including Command and Control, USAR, SMS, ICAD, SOP and Operational Deployment applications.

The Information Communication & Technology Service (ICTS) group based at National Headquarters in Wellington is structured in 5 functional areas: ICT Strategy and Programme, Technology and Support Services, Data & Spatial Intelligence (DSI), Business Solutions and National Telecommunications.

The Data and Spatial Intelligence unit provides enterprise operational & business data management and system administration, technical support, technology solutions delivery, along with national intelligence services to the NZFS, and the Senior Spatial Intelligence Analyst is a key member of this team. This specialist position has responsibility for continuously developing, managing and maintaining national enterprise level geographic information systems, integrated spatial applications and databases (on premise, mobile and cloud), NZFS and Government stewarded spatial and aspatial datasets, spatial ETL processes, spatial data standards and specifications, enterprise data architecture, analytics and modelling services whilst ensuring that the NZFS meets internal and external NZFS business requirements

You will also be responsible for data change management, quality assurance, testing and help desk services to the NZFS Communications Centres, Regions and Areas, while also providing support for the wider Data and Spatial Intelligence (DSI) services unit.

To be successful in this role you will need a high level of experience in national enterprise level geographic information systems, integrated spatial applications and databases, enterprise data management and enterprise data architecture, plus a relevant tertiary qualification in Information Technology, Information Systems or related technical field. You will also be a skilled communicator, with experience of collaborating effectively with a range of colleagues and stakeholders in order to achieve quality outcomes.
