Taking your nursing skills to a leadership level
The Department of Corrections employs 250 Nurses who work collaboratively with Doctors, Allied Health staff and custody personnel. We're united by our goal of making a positive difference in the lives of offenders, their families and the community.
Primary Health Nursing at Corrections offers unique opportunities to develop and practise your skills in a wide range of clinical areas. Prison health centres provide a full range of primary health care services. Nurses assess and manage people with a variety of health issues, challenging physical and mental health problems, substance abuse related issues, as well as responding to emergencies and providing health education.
As the Team Leader, you will be responsible for the day to day coordination of staff and leading the health team. You will ensure the delivery of quality health services to prisoners. In providing best practice clinical health care, you will assess and treat individuals with a wide range of medical conditions and interface with custodial staff to resolve issues.
You will support the Health Centre Manager with the implementation and audit of new policies and initiatives, strategieswhilst encouraging a culture of continuous improvement.
