SEEKING CANDIDATES FOR THE BOARD OF THE

JOINT ACCREDITATION SYSTEM OF AUSTRALIA AND NEW ZEALAND (JAS-ANZ)

 

On behalf of the Minister of Commerce and Consumer Affairs, the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment is seeking a member for the Joint Accreditation System of Australia and New Zealand (JAS-ANZ).

 

JAS-ANZ is a joint body established in 1991 through a Treaty between New Zealand and Australia to jointly accredit certification bodies in these jurisdictions.  It accredits certification bodies and inspection bodies in Australia, New Zealand and other countries. The objective of the Treaty is to maintain a joint accreditation system that will strengthen trade between New Zealand and Australia, and improve domestic market and export opportunities for New Zealand and Australian companies.

 

Applicants must have:

  • strong knowledge of accreditation, certification, and conformity assessment or the capacity to quickly develop an understanding of this business environment
  • either proven experience, as a chairperson or deputy chairperson in a private or public sector board, or the demonstrated ability to take on a strategic leadership role
  • experience or an understanding of the public responsibility and duty operating in an organisation required to discharge a public function
  • strong commercial experience preferably with a practical understanding of the application of standards and management systems in a commercial environment
  • an understanding of the role standards and conformity assessment play in supporting commerce and trade In both the domestic and export sectors.

 

New Zealand has three members on the JAS-ANZ Board. The term of appointment for the new member will be for up to three years.
