Advisor/ Senior Advisor (Project, Programme or Portfolio Experience)

 
 

We have an opportunity for an Advisor/Senior Advisor with project, programme or portfolio experience to help us in our role of providing confidence to stakeholders on its most high-value projects and programmes, and provide trusted advice to Ministers, and agency chief executives on the performance and progress of these high-value investments.

The Investment Management and Asset Performance (IMAP) team's goal is to support an effective investment decision-making and management system. We maintain the government's investment portfolio, and also provide advice and assurance on government's largest and most high-value investment.

We are looking for a project or programme professional with an analytical mind-set to:

  • Work with SROs (senior responsible owners), agency chief executives and Ministers to provide independent, second-opinion advice on the progress and performance of government's largest projects and programmes;
  • Provide advice to Ministers with a system-level focus on investment on the value of investment proposals;
  • Help implement an ambitious work programme, including proposed changes to our monitoring and assurance functions on high-value projects and programmes.

 

We are looking for an Advisor/Senior Advisor with:

  • Strong relationship management and influencing skills
  • Demonstrated ability to analyse and synthesise complex information
  • Experience in providing independent, second-opinion advice to Ministers and agency chief executives
  • Experience in a project, programme, portfolio, or change management environment
  • Experience with project and programme management assurance and intervention methods
  • Knowledge and experience of the machinery of New Zealand government (preferred)
