If you have a post-graduate tertiary qualification in health and medical geography, public health or spatial epidemiology then this newly created position could be for you.

As we monitor population health (including health inequalities) and the performance of the health and disability sector we will improve access to health services and health outcomes for all New Zealanders. To do this, we need to build our geo-spatial skills across the Ministry to help us to translate evidence-based insights and research for service design and delivery. The purpose of this role is to ensure that Client Insights and Analytics and the Ministry’s wider work programme is informed by relevant expert knowledge. In particular the Principal Technical Specialist (Geospatial) will be expected to:
• provide expert spatial analysis, advice and interpretation
• undertake analytical and research projects
• interpret data from the New Zealand Health Survey and administrative datasets.
