Mixture of Research / Analysis / Advising Senior Leadership
The Chief Custodial Officer is the Department’s primary source of expertise on custodial practice within New Zealand and internationally, and advises the department accordingly.
This role supports the Chief Custodial Adviser’s team by undertaking research and evaluation on emerging custodial practices and developments worldwide, and maintaining an overview of research trends and future thinking within the international and corrections community. The role is accountable for identifying solutions to support the goal of improving custodial practice.
Key to success in this position is the ability to undertake analysis and provide robust information on practice leadership initiatives and improvements. Ideal skill sets for this position encompass, an inquiring innovative, and analytical mind-set, coupled with exceptional communication skills. You will demonstrate the capability to analyse complex problems, define their nature and extent, and exercise sound judgement in advising resolution options.
The ability to consult on critical issues will be imperative therefore you will be comfortable operating across all levels of our organisation, engaging with a diverse range of stakeholders.
Exposure to the Corrections environment is desirable however due to the nature of the role experience in analytical/research type roles will be considered.
