Events Manager

Te Papa is on the search for an experienced and energetic events professional with a proven and successful track record in developing and delivering events, to be part of our Visitor Services team. With a focus on driving visitation and positively impacting the Te Papa visitor experience, the successful applicant will utilise their strong relationships and networks to manage and deliver Te Papa’s diverse public events including concerts, festivals, and cultural performances.

The ideal candidate must:

  • Have a minimum of 2 years’ experience in developing, planning, and delivering visitor and community focussed events;
  • Be passionate about delivering the wow factor to Te Papa events;
  • Have an outstanding ability to deal with a wide range of individuals and organisations internally and externally;
  • Be able to lead and motivate a front of house events team; and
  • Have experience in developing and implementing an events strategy.

Experience in the following is also preferred;

  • biculturalism,  including the ability or willingness to learn Te Reo Māori, tikanga Māori customary concepts, and the history and contemporary application of Te Tiriti o Waitangi;
  • project management and budgeting
  • a tertiary qualification or undertaking of education in; Management, Events, or Tourism/Hospitality
  • previous experience with EVMS software

As we open 7 day per week, the role will involve working weekends, evenings, and public holidays.
