Around since 1840, New Zealand Post has a long history – and a great future. There are many of us – involved in postal, banking, communication, data management, logistics and distribution service – helping New Zealand run. Our eyes are firmly on the future and making sure we bring the best of it to our customer and communities.

The role of Fleet / Operations Manager is focused on leading the processing and distribution teams to ensure customers' mail and freight is delivered efficiently and on time. You'll also take responsibility for the region's fleet of courier contractors, ensuring delivery runs are optimised. Customers are at the heart of what we do, so your customer-centric approach will be contagious.

We already have a fantastic team culture, though your people focused leadership style will ensure we continue to be a place people want to be. You'll provide a clear sense of direction, manage day-to-day performance and foster engagement. We like to recognise and reward high performance, though you'll need to be equally comfortable having conversations around poor performance. It is also crucial to us that our people are safe at work, so you'll bring a strong operational knowledge of Health & Safety and champion proactive initiatives.

We're looking for a manager who understands the full business picture and can cascade this into a business plan for your team to ensure financial and service targets are met. You'll make resourcing decisions that align to mail volumes and ensure that KPIS are regularly reviewed to drive continuous improvement and growth. A natural problem solver, your analytical skills and ability to navigate amongst numerous stakeholders will be the key to your success.

We're seeking a strong operational leader with experience managing large teams in a fast paced, deadline driven environment. Experience in the transport and logistics industry would be an advantage, though the most important factors are a people focused, customer-centric style partnered with a well developed commercial acumen.

A clean, full drivers licence is required for this role. All applicants will be required to provide proof of their eligibility to work in New Zealand. Appointees will be subject to a security check and may be required to undertake a drug / alcohol testing.
