Senior Systems Engineer

 

The Central Agencies Shared Services (CASS) IT team have an opportunity available for a Senior Systems Engineer to join their team on a 12 month fixed term.  In this role you will focus on the innovation and maintenance of the IT infrastructure on which all Treasury, State Services Commission and Department of Prime Minister & Cabinet staff rely.   As an experienced Senior Systems Engineer you will have strong skills with Exchange, Blackberry/Good (mobility), VMware, Microsoft System Centre suite and Windows server 2012r2.

To be considered for this role you will have good technical, communication and interpersonal skills with the following experience ideally supported by relevant industry certifications:

• In-depth experience with the Microsoft software suite (e.g. Exchange, Active Directory) • Experience with Blackberry infrastructure • Experience with enterprise storage systems & storage area networks • Experience with the VMware product suite (e.g. ESX, vCenter) • Basic understanding of network administration and support (switching, routing, security)

• A strong technical aptitude and demonstrated skill in performing technical problem determination and analysis • A can-do attitude • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills • A computer science or ICT related university degree or equivalent industry qualifications or experience

As well as server, storage and hypervisor management there are elements of network management required as a part of this role.  There are also opportunities to extend into other areas important to CASS such as disaster recovery, business continuity planning, and security.
