We are currently looking to recruit savvy individuals into the role of Inspector of Corrections preferably based in Auckland and Wellington.
The role of Inspector of Corrections is specified in Section 29 of the Corrections Act 2004. Our Inspectorate team are expanding to incorporate a new business function, therefore we have created new positions within our Inspectorate team, Corporate Services.
Working in a team, these roles have two specific areas of accountability - undertaking a scheduled programme of inspections across New Zealand prisons to provide consistent monitoring of the management of offenders; and secondly drafting reports for the information of the Chief Executive and public release.

A range of work backgrounds would be suitable for this position, some of which are legal, audit, investigative, however we are not wedded to this. We are interested in transferrable skills for this role, coupled with your ability to demonstrate that you can acquire knowledge of the Criminal Justice system and relevant legislation.
We can support you to become familiar with the Corrections environment and provide mentoring and supervision from an experienced Inspector as you come to grips with the requirements of the role.
