The IDPH Service CDHB is seeking innovative and enthusiastic Registered Nurses with highly developed interpersonal skills and a commitment to excellence, to work within our Assessment Rehabilitation and Treatment and PSAID teams within our IDPH Specialist Mental Health Services.

Both Units are based at Hillmorton Hospital and work with people who have both a mental illness and an intellectual disability. We are offering you the opportunity to join us and work as part of a dynamic and innovative team of health professionals, providing creative care to clients with challenging behaviours. Your ability to form effective relationships and communicate across all levels is essential.  Some of our clients may have been in contact with the justice service, therefore, a focus on risk assessment and the ability to provide a safe environment, while maximising independence is an essential part of this position.

Skills and Requirements:

  • Current registration and APC with the New Zealand Nursing Council with a scope of practice in the field of Intellectual Disability.
  • Responsible and mature attitude.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work as part of a supportive team.
  • Ideally you will have experience working with Intellectual Disability, however, candidates with an interest in the area and motivation to learn new skills would also be considered.
  • A current NZ Driving Licence

Ideally you will have experience working with Intellectual Disability, however, candidates with an interest in the area and motivation to learn new skills would also be considered. We are committed to supporting you in your professional development and have opportunities for continuing education.

If you have a current NZ Practising Certificate that includes a scope of practice for Mental Health, including the area of intellectual disability then this could be the new career challenge for you.

Flexibility and adaptability are essential as hours of work will be as per rotating roster and weekend work will be a requirement.
